Features

Our range of standard gain horns is based on three nominal gain values, 10 dBi, 15 dBi and 20 dBi. The pyramidal standard horn design is well liked for its predictable performance with excellent VSWR characteristics and robust, reliable design. VSWR for these gain horns is typically better than 1.4:1  with the integral connector, achieving better than 1.2:1 with a waveguide flange.  Pictured above are three horns, all of them are Waveguide 18 horns with integral connectors.  The shortest is the 10 dBi gain horn, the next longest is the 15 dBi horn and the longest of all is the 20 dBi horn.  Protective radomes can be added to any of our horns, on request, for all weather use.

  • Detailed Free Test Report provided with each antenna including graphs of Gain and Beamwidths
  • Weather proofing available
  • Q-par Angus stocks a wider range of Standard Gain Horns than most of our competitors

10 dBi Standard Gain Horns

  • Horn dimensions decrease exponentially with gain so that a 10 dBi horn even at 0.5 - 2 GHz becomes practicable.
  • Useful where absolute gain isn't important and/or where a wider beamwidth is useful.
  • Nominal gain at mid band is 10 dBi, with a spread of about 3 dB across the frequency band.

15 dBi Standard Gain Horns

  • 15 dBi Gain is a sensible trade-off between portability and gain especially for lower frequency horns.
  • As an indication, a 15 dBi 0.9 - 1.5 GHz (WG5) horn is approximately 1 metre in length while a 20 dBi equivalent is more than double at 2.1m.
  • Nominal gain at mid band is 15 dBi, with a spread of about 3 dB across the frequency band.

20 dBi Standard Gain Horns

  • Ideal for EMI/RFI testing
  • EMC measurements
  • Surveillance
  • Materials evaluation
  • Use as a Microwave Antenna Gain Standard
  • Unlike many other manufacturers we also offer low frequency 20 dBi horns down to WG5 (WR770) or even lower
  • Nominal gain at mid band is 20 dBi, with a spread of about 3 dB across the frequency band

A full antenna test report including gain against frequency is provided with each horn.

 Part Numbers

Standard Waveguide Horn Table

Standard Gain Horns that have individual datasheets available online have the PDF symbol and Green text part number, simply click to open.

Flanged antennas will have a shorter length L than stated as they will not have the coaxial transition section.

The power rating is for the given connector, other connectors will be rated differently and flanged antennas have a significantly higher power rating than antennas with connectors.
