Presentation

The presentation will be made on 'The role of active millimetre wave radar in defence surveillance'.

Dr. Wynn specialises in millimetre wave array technology and signal processing with applications in radar, communications and electronic warfare. He served as UK National Leader of The Technical Cooperation Programme on Radar Data Processing (Detection and Tracking) and Secretary of the UK Defence Scientific Advisory Council (DSAC). He was Technical Leader of the Non-Cooperative Target Recognition project for MESAR (Multifunction Electronically Scanned Array Radar), the world's first active phased array radar of this type.

Dr. Wynn has been a radio amateur since the age of 9, he is a Chartered Engineer, holds 7 patents and has over 100 publications on related areas of radar involving: phased arrays, quasi-optics, detection, tracking, intrapulse demodulation, radar resource management, track-before-detect processing, and adaptive state estimation, prediction and control.

Dr. Wynn has worked in academia, industry and government organisations in Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Israel, US and UK. He was the recipient of a QinetiQ Fellowship award in 2003 for radar signature analysis and exploitation. He is a QinetiQ Trusted Expert. In July 2004, Dr. Wynn joined Q-par Angus Ltd as their Principal Scientist. Recent activity has concentrated upon the development and application of a millimetre wave radar for surveillance in defence systems.
