Q-par Angus E-News No.9 - February 08

Wed 06 February 2008

A new year and many new products to tell you about. Since the last e-news, we have designed several new antenna products, including Sinuous, Log Periodic & Omni Antennas amongst others. I'm also pleased to tell you that we have managed to drop the prices of a few of our most popular horn antennas by fifty percent or more without reducing the quality in any way. Please check out our website www.q-par.com for more info.

This Issue's Headlines

Many New Innovative Products now available

2 - 18 GHz Sinuous Antennas

Sinuous Antennas

Our new range of Sinuous antennas provide excellent wide-band performance in a compact package, with either linear, dual linear, CP or Dual CP polarisation covering the bands 0.2 – 2 GHz, 0.7 – 4 GHz, 2 – 18 GHz.

Q-par Angus is just one of a few companies worldwide currently offering such antennas, demonstrating our exceptional technical expertise in the field.

1 - 26.5 GHz Wide Band Offset Reflector Antenna

New ultra wide band 1 - 26.5 GHz reflector antenna launched

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of our new ultra wide band reflector
antenna. Covering 1 - 26.5 GHz with a single feed, the design provides good performance with a simple but reliable design. The antenna is also available with either our QTP-B or QTP-C Tripods

Omnidirectional Antennas

New products offering 0.9 - 20 GHz, 2 - 18 GHz, 9 - 26.5 GHz and 40 - 42 GHz bands with excellent performance. Other frequency bands are available on request.

Reflector Antennas

If you are having difficulties sourcing reflector antennas, we are very pleased to announce that with immediate effect, we are offering high quality antenna reflectors for sale as standard products.

Massive Horn Savings

Major Price Savings

We have just completed an extensive review of our manufacturing process for three of our key horn antenna products. The discounts are as much as half the earlier selling price.
All these three parts are kept in stock for immediate despatch.
The price reductions are as follows:

Model Description Old Price New Price
WBH2-18 2 - 18 GHz Horn Antenna £2,420 £1,180
WBH2-18H High Gain version of above £3,630 £1,815
WBHDP18-40K 18 - 40 GHz Dual Polar Horn £4,840 £3,500

  • New Theoretical Research Findings - Updated
Dr Andrew Mackay recently presented a paper on the theory of optimal Radar Absorbent Materials (RAM) at the ICEAA07 Conference in Italy, September 2007. A version of this paper is now included on our web site. Also, two recent submissions for publication to the IET Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation journal. The first is concerned with fundamental bandwidth performance limits to finite antennas. The second is concerned with the dispersion properties and physical realiseability of negative refractive index materials. This second article has been greatly expanded and updated.

New Products

A summary of our many new Products developed over the last few months. Datasheets are available for most of the products by following the links below.

  • QTP-C Ruggedized Military Style Antenna Tripod
The tripod was originally designed for rapid deployment and installation in Sports and Electronic News Gathering (SNG) antenna applications, but also offers an exceptional performance in military/heavy usage. The uncomplicated, robust design and construction enable the tripod to be used in virtually any environment with the minimum of maintenance. Each antenna tripod is supplied in a polycarbonate carrying case designed to facilitate transportation and to afford maximum protection to the tripod in transit.

  • 2 - 40 GHz Horn Antenna Set
The Q-par QSHKIT2-40 Wideband Antenna Case consists of five horns covering a wide 2 - 40 GHz frequency band in a convenient and protective carry - case.

  • 100 - 1300 MHz Dual Polarised Horn Antenna
The WBHDP0.1-1.3N wide-band 100 - 1300 MHz dual polarised quad-ridged horn is manufactured from aluminium and composite plastics. The balance of very wide band and dual polarised capability in a single package makes this horn very special. The antenna has little variation of phase centre with frequency unlike log-periodic antennas popular at this frequency range. It offers an excellent VSWR and a typical isolation between ports of better than 35 dB. The antenna has a protective and attractive alochrom finish and can be supplied in a radome if required. A 0.1 - 2 GHz extended range version is currently under development.

  • 0.9 - 18 GHz Dual Polarised Horn Antenna
The WBHDP0.9-18S Ultra wide-band 0.9 - 18 GHz dual polarised quad-ridged horn is manufactured from aluminium and composite material. The balance of very wide band and dual polarised capability in a single package makes this horn very special. Radiation pattern beamwidths are closely matched between E & H planes and have remarkable stability versus frequency. This and little variation of phase centre with frequency makes it an attractive candidate for feeds in reflector dishes.
