High Resolution Dual Fan Beam Antenna Assembly

by julianr last modified Tue 15 August 2006 16:19

Q-par Angus has developed a high resolution dual fan beam antenna assembly for use at 94 GHz complete with a high accuracy turning gear. This radar is capable of detecting very small objects at considerable distance, and has many applications in surveillance and homeland security. The antenna assembly has been designed for FMCW radar applications.

94 GHz Fan Beam Antenna AssemblyThe beam width is 0.25º for transmit and receive antennas with a vertical beam width of 2.5º. The antenna feeds are capable of vertical, horizontal or circular polarisation.

The antenna rotator is accurate to 14 bits (0.022º) and is capable of computer control via a GUI capable of configuration to the customer’s application. The unit has been used in severe conditions by customers and found to retain its accuracy.

Q-par is currently designing a dual pencil beam antenna for radar surveillance applications.
