Mechanical Design

Q-par Angus has a strong background in mechanical design, underpinning our antenna positioner and antenna design facilities. Many of our designs are bespoke, requiring a dedicated team to provide high quality engineering solutions. Q-par Angus uses a mixture of design and analysis tools for its mechanical design including Solidworks, Cosmos and FEA amongst others.

Mechanical DesignThe five members of the mechanical design team at Q-par Angus have between them a total of 168 years of experience in engineering and design. Some of our team first developed and honed their skills with pen and ink on paper, and all progressed through 2D CAD packages to the latest in 3D solid modelling -- the excellent Solidworks Office Professional 2006 package.

All members of the team have had extensive hands-on experience working in machine shops and workshops, giving them the best insight to designing products for manufacturing and practicality of use for the end user. We work very closely with our in-house machine shop, microwave laboratories and workshop for developing and fast-tracking prototype parts, giving us the ability to make adjustments to microwave components straight away after testing in our laboratories. This means we can develop items very quickly without having to rely on outside contractors to make alterations to prototype jobs.

We use subcontractors for production components and large items that we don't have the capacity to machine in house, and have built up a superb relationship with specialist contractors offering Laser Profiling, CNC Spinning, Wire EDM, Laser Welding, Laser Marking and Engraving, Electroforming, Electroplating, Casting, Hard Anodising, Vacuum Deposition surface coatings, and with machine shops that can work to a tolerance of +/- 5 microns, essential for millimetric microwave components.

With such in-house skills and relationships with our specialist contractors, all avenues of finding the best solution for our and your design problems can be addressed.
